Hello Awesome Fosters! September was back to reality for most of us, and we had some AMAZING placements and adoptions! Here's a snapshot of our September happenings:
PLACEMENTS: We had 171 intakes and 54 transfers to new fosters, for a total of 225 placements. Notable placements include: Sugar Plum, Twin, Muffin, Jazzy, and TWISTER!
ADOPTIONS: We had 152 adoptions. Notably, the following dogs found their fureverhomes: Ferb, Angelina Jolie, Shasta, Legs, and Bo Peep and long stays: Smoke (by our very own Dog Foster Outreach Coordinator, Kelly Atwood; 316 net days), Starfish (579 net days), Ash (653 net days), and Marilla (938 net days)!
STAFF WELCOMES & NEWS: Welcome to Laurel Moulton as our new Dog Foster Medical Liaison!
SHOUT OUT to Beverly Ray - our wonderful maternity mentor and bottle & tube baby mentor! Beverly Ray goes above and beyond the call of duty to help fosters with pregnant moms and new families. But this month she did something extra special and helped a foster transport a litter of twelve to their Clinic appointment.
HIGHLIGHTS, ANNOUNCEMENTS, AND INITIATIVES: -We accomplished our July and August goal of placing Twister in foster! -We placed 4 Moms & families (Dixie Mae, Mama Cass, Misty, Christine) -We pulled 16 highly-adoptable, at-risk dogs from a shelter in New Mexico as we helped clear their shelter of distemper. Most of these dogs have made it into foster homes and some have already even been adopted! -4 dogs were adopted through the efforts of our Dog Foster Adoption Advocate!
GOAL FOR OCTOBER: October is National Adopt-a-Dog month and we are promoting our wonderfully trained, fantastically brilliant, Canine Good Citizen (CGC) and TOP Dog dogs! Fees will be waived for most; heartworm positive dogs are $49. The pups we are focusing on in foster are:
